About Us

Larchmere Oriental Rugs is owned and operated by Erdogan Gezer and Sarah Matters. Erdogan has been involved in the Oriental rug business since the late 1970s in Istanbul, Turkey, and also in different cities in the USA since he came here in 1981.

Before buying the store, Erdogan was in the wholesale Oriental rug business traveling throughout the USA. His network of contacts and his knowledge of the rug business are extensive, in both the USA and Turkey. Sarah’s past was in international cultural relations. She has been learning about oriental rugs since coming to Cleveland in 2002.

Our pieces are carefully selected and realistically priced. The inventory is broad ranging and includes rare, old, and antique Persian, Caucasian and Turkmen rugs, kilims and textiles, saddlebags, saltbags and various tent decorations and trappings, as well as a large collection of new rugs and kilims, woven with handspun wools, dyed with vegetable dyes in the traditional custom. We also carry an extensive selection of Tibetan rugs, also made with handspun wools and vegetable dyes. All our rugs are unique, one of a kind pieces.

We are always adding to our inventory and have regular shipments of rugs, kilims, textiles and other pieces throughout the year.

We also stock a wide selection of old and new copper pots, plates and jugs and have a number of large earthenware urns. We carry a good selection of bags and purses, as well as a large and varied collection of pillows of all sizes.

Larchmere Boulevard is Cleveland’s premier street of shops featuring antiques, collectibles, and art, as well as several fine restaurants.
