Erdogan Gezer and Sarah Matters established Larchmere Oriental Rugs in 2001 on the promise of providing customers with the finest quality rugs available. Erdogan purchases every rug carried in the store – each one-of-a-kind and handmade with most being made from hand-spun and hand-carded wool using organic and vegetable dyes.

Customer service is integral to the way Erdogan and Sarah conduct their business. By educating clients about their rugs, visiting them in their homes, and helping clients select just the right rug, Erdogan and Sarah create long-standing relationships with them.

Erdogan Gezer

Erdogan has been in the Oriental rug business for over 40 years, starting out cleaning and repairing rugs for antique dealers in the U.S. He moved on to wholesaling rugs to retailers and ended up in Cleveland, OH. He travels extensively to find the vast selection of rugs available in the Larchmere Oriental Rugs showroom and his expertise is evident in the high quality offerings in our store.

Sarah Matters

Sarah knew little about Oriental rugs until a trip to Istanbul in 1995 where she bought her first rug in the Grand Bazaar – she liked the colors! She followed Erdogan from London to Cleveland. Since buying that first rug, she has learned a lot and has become an expert at advising clients about what types and styles of rugs will work well in their homes.
